CHILDREN OF EXILE / HIJOS DEL EXILIO – Eric Facon
These people have their minds in France and their hearts in Chile—or perhaps the other way around. They carry on the historical legacy of their parents, who were political exiles in France during the Pinochet dictatorship from 1973 to 1989. Born in France or arriving there at a very young age, they grew up there. Their fate was determined by the coup d’état of September 11, 1973. They are the children of exile. Éric Facon photographed them in 2003 in Santiago, Chile, and in Paris duringune groupune commemorating the thirtieth anniversary of the start of the dictatorship. He tracked them down again in 2013 to find out what had become of them. The book chronicles their journeys through their brief life stories.
