OPENING RECEPTION - "VOYAGES EN ITALIE" by Marc Verrecchia
This special feature takes readers on a journey to the heart of Italy through a selection of photo books. Far from tourist clichés, these works offer a variety of perspectives on a country shaped by its history, landscapes, traditions, and contemporary contradictions.
A photo book offers a unique way to engage with images: you flip through the pages, linger on certain images, and flip back. Each volume becomes a visual narrative, a personal journey through Italy as told by photographers with diverse perspectives.
This collection is an invitation to embark on a journey—not a geographical one, but an emotional one—that brings together a selection of books by Italian and international photographers dedicated to this country. Each volume offers a unique perspective: landscapes, scenes of daily life, fragments of history, or contemporary perspectives.
Marc Verrecchia has been a bookseller on the banks of the Seine in Paris for 30 years. A specialist in fine art and photography books, he has been collecting books on Italy for all these years, and he is offering a small selection of them at L'INAPERÇU.
VERNISSAGE - "Un Air de Famille" by Todd Hido
For many years, the photobook remained in the shadow of photography, but today it has conquered its autonomy and become an essential component of photography under its now-established name: Photobook.
Faced with the diversity and number of publications, from the invention of photography to the recent craze for the Photobook, the need for a compendium has arisen, giving rise to compilations with a universal vocation, such as the Parr & Badger trilogy, or to collections devoted to specific fields: geographical areas, photographers, themes...
It is with great pleasure that L’INAPERÇU, for whom the photobook is at the very heart of its identity, presents a selection of some fifty of these compilations—these “Books on Photobooks”—which are often rare and highly sought after by collectors.
To mark this special feature on L’INAPERÇU, Innocences and Les Yeux Ouverts are co-publishing *The Book of Books on Photobooks*, a compilation of books about photography books published around the world, featuring over a hundred titles.
