A look back at the evening of Monday, March 27, at L’INAPERÇU

L’INAPERÇU pleased to invite you, on Monday, March 27, to the opening of the exhibition curated by Valérie Belin, the bookstore’s guest artist. The event featured a selection of more than 60 photography books chosen by the artist, centered on the theme of Women Photographers.

Valérie Belin has compiled a collection of about fifty reference books—many of which are rare or out of print—by the following artists: Tina Barney, Sarah Dobai, Nan Goldin, Dominique Issermann, Sarah Jones, Valérie Jouve, Karen Knorr, Rinko Kawauchi, Annie Leibovitz, Zoe Leonard, Rut Blees Luxemburg, Sarah Moon, Viviane Sassen, Shirana Shahbazi, Sophy Rickett, Agnès Varda, Sabine Weiss…

About Valérie Belin: 

Valérie Belin is a French visual artist, born in 1964 in Boulogne-Billancourt. She lives and works in Paris. She studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Versailles (1983–1985) and then at the École nationale supérieure d’art de Bourges (1985–1988), earning her national higher diploma in visual arts in 1988. She also holds a degree in the philosophy of art (University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne, 1898). Initially influenced by various minimalist and conceptual movements, Valérie Belin became interested in the medium of photography, which serves as both the subject of her work and her means of reflection and creation. Light, matter, and the physical form of objects and beings in general—as well as their transformations and representations—constitute the terrain of her experiments and the universe of her artistic expression. Her work takes the form of photographic series, each created as part of a specific project.
