Seizing the opportunity to work on a project dedicated to her native city, Stefanie Moshammer brilliantly crafts visual stories that blend several levels of interpretation. Starting with Vienna's place in the collective imagination, complete with all its stereotypes, she delves her readers into the physical and intellectual mysteries of the Austrian capital, drawing inspiration from its emblematic figures and historic landmarks, while at the same time eliciting moments of more personal reflection, imbued with a poignant intimacy. The result is a unique narrative, where past and present engage in a rambling conversation to better shape a certain vision of Vienna, what it is and what it is not.
Born in 1988, Stefanie Moshammer is a visual artist whose work lies at the crossroads of empiricism and experimentation. After graduating in textile design from Vienna's Hetzendorf School of Fashion, she studied graphic design and photography at Linz University of Art and Design, before taking courses in advanced visual storytelling and social and cultural anthropology. Her books have won numerous awards, and her work has been exhibited in galleries around the world.
Inspired by the spirit of travel inherited from the Maison, Louis Vuitton's Fashion Eye collection evokes cities, regions or countries through the eyes of fashion photographers, young talents or industry legends. Each title in the series includes a vast selection of large-format photographs, as well as biographical elements and an interview with the artist or a critical essay. Following on from the City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection from Louis Vuitton invites fashion into travel photography. The photographs chosen impregnate their images of great cities, faraway places and dream destinations with their own unique vision.
L'INAPERÇU is delighted to welcome artist Stefanie Moshammer and publisher Louis Vuitton for a book signing of "Fashion Eye Vienna" on Saturday November 11 from 6pm.
