Seizing the opportunity to work on a project dedicated to her hometown, Stefanie Moshammer brilliantly crafts visual narratives that blend multiple levels of interpretation. Drawing on Vienna’s place in the collective imagination—complete with all its stereotypes—she delights in immersing her readers in the physical and intellectual mysteries of the Austrian capital, drawing inspiration from its iconic figures and historic landmarks, while also prompting moments of more personal reflection, imbued with a poignant intimacy. The result is a unique narrative in which past and present engage in a disjointed conversation to better give shape to a certain vision of Vienna—of what it is and what it is not.
Born in 1988, Stefanie Moshammer is a visual artist whose work lies at the intersection of empiricism and experimentation. After earning a degree in textile design from the Hetzendorf School of Fashion in Vienna, she studied graphic design and photography at the University of Art and Design in Linz, before taking courses in advanced visual storytelling and social and cultural anthropology. Her books have won numerous awards, and her artwork has been exhibited in galleries around the world.
Inspired by the House’s legacy of travel, Louis Vuitton’s Fashion Eye collection captures cities, regions, and countries through the lens of fashion photographers—from rising stars to industry legends. Each volume in the series features a wide selection of large-format photographs, along with biographical notes and an interview with the artist or a critical essay. Following the City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection from Louis Vuitton brings fashion into travel photography. The selected photographs thus infuse their images of major cities, faraway places, and dream destinations with their unique vision.
