L'INAPERÇU was delighted to invite you to the inauguration of the "BEST OF BRITISH" curation, a selection by Martin Parr, legendary photographer and guest collector at the bookshop.

For L'INAPERÇU, Martin Parr, with his encyclopedic knowledge of photo books, has selected 50 works to highlight the creativity of British documentary photographers and the quality of their books.

Bringing together familiar names like Chris Killip and emerging artists like Kavi Pujari, this selection will give the public a clearer idea of the multi-faceted talent to be found in the UK.

Martin Parr is one of the best-known documentary photographers of his generation. With over 100 books published, his photographic legacy is already well established. Parr is also a curator and publisher. lI has been a member of the Magnum agency since 1994 and was its president from 2013 to 2017. In 2013, he was appointed Visiting Professor of Photography at the University of Ulster. Martin Parr's work is collected by many leading museums, from the Tate to the Centre Pompidou and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 2017, Martin Parr created the Foundation that bears his name. In 2019, London's National Portrait Gallery organized a retrospective exhibition of his work entitled Only Human.
