FASHION EYE TRANS-SIBERIAN - Coco Capitàn
"My trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway was unique, because almost everything I experienced was different from what I had imagined," says Spanish photographer Coco Capitán. "I thought I'd be travelling on a train packed with friendly, chatty passengers, and I had the idea that this was how my adventure would unfold. I was already imagining the photos of passengers that I would capture with my camera in the old train compartments.
Born in Seville in 1992, Coco Capitán currently lives in London, where she moved to study at Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art. Her work covers a wide range of disciplines and media. Involved in the world of luxury from the start of her career, she quickly gained international recognition as a fashion photographer. However, her artistic orientation and achievements extend far beyond this sphere, combining photography, painting and performance with slogans and written aphorisms.
Inspired by the House's spirit of travel, Louis Vuitton's Fashion Eye collection evokes cities, regions or countries through the eyes of fashion photographers, young talents or industry legends. Each title in the series includes a vast selection of large-format photographs, as well as biographical elements and an interview with the artist or a critical essay. Following on from the City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection from Louis Vuitton invites fashion into travel photography. The selected photographers bring their unique vision to their images of great cities, faraway places and dream destinations.
