FOREVER - Saul Leiter
Regarded as the great pioneer of color photography, Saul Leiter (1923–2013) inspired several generations of photographers. He lived for over 60 years on New York’s Lower East Side, which at the time was home to artists of all kinds, homeless people, immigrants, and lonely elderly residents. His body of work is filled with photos taken through windows, through a door’s crack, or even in the reflections of a mirror. Saul Leiter does not seek out the image. On the contrary, he captures transcendent moments that are entirely unintentional—the poetry of the moment and of the intimate—whose fragility he fully appreciates and whose grace he fully conveys.
