PRINTED MATTER 1964/2013 - Bernd und Hiller Becher
Bernd and Hilla Becher are among the most influential artists of our time. The Bechers began their work on industrial heritage threatened with destruction in the late 50s. They created what would become one of the largest industrial archives of our time. For the first time, the work of the two German photographers is presented in historical perspective through the printed documents, enabling us to understand the different stages of their practice, in particular the transition from a conception of the work identified by a single photograph to a representation of the work as a series of images, or typology.
