REGISTRE DES VOYAGEURS - Rodrigo Gómez Rovira, Anamaría Briede, Christian Caujolle
"I found photos of his childhood in Loone's barn, of him as a little boy with his brother playing in the river.
After graduating from high school, he had the urge to travel. He went to Latin America, to Peru. He met his wife, with whom he returned to France.
In search of a better life, he settled in the Couserans region 40 years ago.
Its history, like that of all the people I've met, reveals to me that this territory is a corner of France that has been shaped by travel. The crusades of the Middle Ages, the crossings to Spain, the Spaniards who came to France, those who came to settle in search of freedom, those who were born here and grew up in their valleys.
We arrived from Chile, a country on the edge of the world.
When you arrive in Chile, it's a terminus. You have to stay or go the other way. As in the Couserans region, as you climb the valleys, the roads are dead-end. Once you're up against the mountains, you have to stay or turn back.
I grew up in France following my parents' exile, so my intimate territory is nourished by two cultures: French and Chilean."
