"Topographies: Aerial Surveys of the American Landscape" presents Stephen Shore’s latest work: a series of photographs taken by drone beginning in 2020, which reveal in minute detail the interplay between natural and man-made landscapes in Montana, North Carolina, New York, and beyond.
In this new work, Stephen Shore revisits the original ambitions of the famous 1975 exhibition “New Topographics,” using a new aerial perspective to reexamine the movement’s concerns—the lens, the commonplace, and the relationship between the natural and the artificial in the American landscape—and to reflect on how they might be applied in the 21st century.
