8 WOMEN - Schorr necklace
Collier Schorr's latest book, 8 Women, presents work spanning from the mid-90s to the present day. In her early works, the American artist used appropriated fashion magazine advertisements to address issues of fatherhood and desire; the works introduced a female gaze into the debate on female representation. Appropriation was Collier Schorr's primary medium, and in a sense she returns to it, taking her own commissioned fashion images and folding them into a dialogue with other works.
This work features a variety of subjects, all involved in performance, whether as artists, models or musicians.
Working between exits and tear sheet manipulations, Schorr asks who are the women who wish to be looked at.
