ARCHITECTURE - Andreas Gursky
Through the photographs of German photographer Andreas Gursky (b. 1955), everyday environments, the diverse locales of our globalized world, and the arenas of historical and political power are transformed into iconic pictorial compositions. This publication brings together some fifteen large-format works taken by the renowned photographer between 1988 and the present. Architecture is a particular focus here, a central thematic complex in the work of the Düsseldorf-based artist. For the first time, each of Gursky’s photographs is accompanied by commentary from a well-known author. This kaleidoscope of texts and images compellingly demonstrates the depth and breadth of his architectural concept, with a focus on the structures and textures of both the exterior and interior spaces of buildings.
