EGYPT - Vera Lutter
This book is a catalog of an exhibition by German multidisciplinary artist Vera Lutter (1960-) 2011 at Gagosian London in 2011. The artist travelled to Egypt to research the country's ancient architecture, including the Rhomboid Pyramid of Dahshur, the Pyramid of Meydum and the Great Sphinx of Giza. For these photos, Vera Lutter used an empty suitcase lined with photosensitive paper, similar to a camera obsuca, a primitive photographic process she is accustomed to using. Each of these photographs thus conforms to the dimensions of the improvised device, producing a much more intimate scale than in her previous series.
