“Lilou is the nickname we gave my older brother Antoine, who is autistic and 34 years old (…) Like Luc Besson’s heroine in *The Fifth Element*, he is an exceptional person, living in a world different from ours,” Lucie Hodiesne Darras, a 27-year-old photographer, told us when we met her for the first time. For the past five years, the young artist has been creating, in true collaboration with her older brother, Lilou. A sensitive project that sheds light on a disability that is still too stigmatized.

“It is with a very positive and humanistic spirit that I would like to offer a new perspective on autism—one full of hope and optimism—to promote greater inclusion in our society,” the author said today. And, although the protagonist of her story does not speak, write, or draw, through his sister’s photographs he reveals himself with stunning honesty. Always attentive to her brother’s well-being, Lucie Hodiesne Darras weaves, to the rhythm of his rituals—necessary appointments in time and space—a poetic monochrome tale. A work reminiscent of a family photo album, at the heart of which raw yet delicate portraits unfold, immersing the reader in his world.

Foreword by Minh Tran Huy, introduction by Lucie Hodiesne Darras & afterword by Benoît Beaume
