THE OTHERS - Olivier Culmann
Available in three different cover designs, this book brings together for the first time the entire *The Others*series that Olivier Culmann began in 2009 while living in India. Through this series of self-portraits, he uses Indian social codes and the practice of the photo studio to make us question our relationship to identity and the way social conventions can transform it into a multiplicity of fantasized images. Olivier Culmann is the author, director, and actor of this series, developed in four phases like a collection of short stories.
Several essays shed light on the many facets of this work:
Christian Caujolle, associate professor at the École Nationale Supérieure Louis-Lumière, critic, independent curator.
François Cheval, Director of the Nicéphore Niépce Museum in Chalon-sur-Saône.
Christopher Pinney, Professor of Anthropology and Visual Culture at University College London.
