TRYING TO DANCE - JH Engström
JH Engström's Trying To Dance series is a photojournalistic "diary" of his life: landscapes, still lifes, self-portraits and shots of friends become rambling narrative documents, testifying not only to the artist's personal experiences, but also to his sensitive and provocative engagement with the world at large. Using photography's ability to capture the fleeting essence of an instant, Engström transfers a specific time and place to the unstable reference of memory. Engström's work was featured in issue 190 of Aperture magazine and was first published in book form by the Swedish publisher Journal.
