TRAVEL IN ITALY - Luigi Ghirri
In the early 1980s, Luigi Ghirri brought together a group of some twenty photographers who were already experimenting with unconventional ways of depicting reality and the social changes that had been taking place throughout the country since the end of the previous decade. This collaboration gave rise to the group exhibition *Viaggio in Italia*, which opened on January 15, 1984, at the Provincial Art Gallery in Bari and was subsequently presented in Genoa, Ancona, Rome, Naples, and Reggio Emilia. The exhibition was accompanied by a book of the same name, designed by Ghirri and Paola Borgonzoni, featuring an essay by Arturo Carlo Quintavalle and a text by Gianni Celati.
