BOOK OF THE ROAD - Daniel Meadows
Book of the Road celebrates the 50th anniversary of Daniel Meadows' pioneering 1970s documentary project, Free Photographic Omnibus.
Driving more than 10,000 miles in a double-decker bus, the young, wild-haired Meadows spent 14 months crisscrossing England, photographing 958 people and giving each of his subjects a free print. Along the way, amid countless breakdowns, traffic tickets, and acts of kindness, he happened to run into Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Meadows’ determination enabled him to compile all this material into a photographic portrait of a nation in flux.
