Mario Giacomelli (1925–2000) is considered one of the greatest Italian photographers of the 20th century. He lived and worked in Senigallia, a small, isolated town in the Marche region of Italy. Giacomelli is renowned for the grain of his film, his geometric compositions, and the raw expressiveness of his images. He was interested in the conditions of daily life and ordinary people, whom he perceived as thinking, sensitive individuals.
