In "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game," Chris Shaw returns to a style similar to that of his first hit series, "Life as a Night Porter," but instead of London hotels, we find ourselves in the midst of the bustling nightlife of a Thai resort, where he manages to find beauty in sordid situations.
Pattaya is a beach resort in Thailand located 150 km south of Bangkok, famous for its go-go bars, hedonistic atmosphere, and ties to organized crime. The nightlife of the “ladybugs,” go-go dancers, clubs, bars, and prostitution will soon be swept away. It will all be nothing but a memory, like Toulouse-Lautrec’s paintings of fin-de-siècle Paris. The power of China’s new economy is reflected in the growth of organized mass tourism, slowly leading to a cleanup of Pattaya. The photographs document the end of an era.
