THIS GOLDEN MILE - Kavi Pujara

60,00 €

Kavi began photographing Leicester's Golden Mile district to reconnect with the city, its people and his own past after living in London for 30 years.

This Golden Mile is not the one-kilometre stretch of Melton Road that turns into Belgrave Road with its sari stores, Indian restaurants and jewellers. It's about the arteries and veins that flow from them and give life to the parts of the district that lie off the central commercial artery. This Golden Mile exists in the poetry of houses, temples and street corners; it can be found in alleyways and in the interstices of steel fences leading to crumbling industrial estates. This Golden Mile is both an entry point and an exit point, the last mile of a long journey to Britain.
