TRA L'ALTRO - Guido Guidi

45,00 €

Selected from Guido Guidi’s archives by Marcello Galvani, these 94 color photographs, taken between 1976 and 1981 with small-format view cameras, are for the most part unpublished. They form an ideal bridge between two well-known phases of Guidi’s work. Following the irreverent black-and-white snapshots of the early 1970s, this series marks Guidi’s gradual transition to color, which he began exploring in the early 1980s using an 8×10 large-format camera. Here we can already perceive the photographer’s growing fascination with his everyday landscape—vernacular buildings, ordinary people, visual chance encounters—captured with a lively, wandering gaze that questions the possibility of capturing the flow of experience and the very notion of photographic time. Tra l’altro —which translates to incidentally, by the way, or among other things—serves as a historical moment of transition in Guidi’s visual thinking, but also, in his own words, as “fleeting observations” and a way to “make contact” with the outside world.
