ITALIAN TRAVELS - Bernard Plossu
Bernard Plossu has been traveling throughout Italy for more than forty years:
“It’s a need, a passion—I feel at home there. I go everywhere—on foot, by car, by train—from the mountains of Piedmont to Puglia; from Cuneo to Bari, from Turin to Palermo, from Bologna to Cagliari. Everything draws me in! Everywhere I go, I photograph the landscapes, the people, the atmospheres, the architecture, the present, the past, the future, the poetry…” Bernard Plossu has selected for this book more than 150 color photographs using the Fresson process and black-and-white images, many of which have never been published before. Far from the usual clichés celebrating Italy’s famous landmarks, Bernard Plossu alternates his perspectives between street scenes, deserted or bustling marinas, landscapes seen from a moving train, the majestic and serene landscapes of Lake Garda or the Maddalena Pass, and wilder natural settings, particularly on the islands.
